Two palletised delivery lots at the Quality Gate: blocked on the left (quarantine store, inspection in progress), released and ready for collection on the right

CSL Quality Gate

The external quality gate for incoming and outgoing goods: parts are inspected before they go into your assembly or to your customer. CSL inspects, documents, quarantines and prepares for collection.

Typical situations

Common starting points

No own production — no incoming inspection
Delivery lots go straight to assembly: CSL adds the missing inspection stage as an external gate.
New supplier or production ramp-up
The first live parts after development: fast, reliable pass/fail decisions before assembly starts.
Capacity peak or skills shortage
CSL keeps your internal capacity free for development and assembly — recurring and plannable.
High assembly and follow-up costs when defects slip through
Suspicious lots are stopped, sorted and quarantined — with measurement data to challenge suppliers on technical grounds.
The process

The Quality Gate in five stations

Every lot follows the same documented path. CSL inspects, documents and quarantines — the release decision stays with you.

1
CSL
Reception and hold
The lot arrives at CSL and is on hold until the conformity decision is available — nothing moves on uninspected.
2
CSL
Inspection
Against drawing and inspection plan: sample or 100% inspection, the method chosen per inspection characteristic.
3
CSL
Conformity decision
Conforming / non-conforming per inspection characteristic, documented with measured values — your reliable basis for the decision.
4
You decide
Release or rejection
You decide on this basis: release, have the lot sorted, or return it to the supplier.
5
CSL
Report and collection
Released parts are ready for collection, suspicious lots stay in the quarantine store — report and measurement data go to you.
Who decides what, and what a sample can tell you: answers in the FAQ.
Methods and equipment

Inspected with the CSL metrology lab

The method is chosen per inspection characteristic — tactile, optical, 3D scanning, computed tomography, contour or roughness.

Tactile Optical 3D scanning Computed tomography Contour Roughness
Manual measuring equipment
Conventional measuring equipment in-house — complementing measurement on the CMM.
Threads and gauges
Thread verification and gauge checks as part of the inspection scope.
Gauge procurement
CSL procures gauges for customers — ownership remains with your company.

How the collaboration works

Start with a single order or the first delivery lot — suitable cases are then transferred into a recurring framework agreement instead of quoting every lot anew.

You specify characteristics and sample size — or we define the inspection plan, scope and frequency together (e.g. based on AQL)
Flat inspection rate for the defined scope; the agreed quarantine period included
Sorting, additional inspections and exceptional handling billed separately
No minimum volume to start — you state a realistic quarterly or annual demand
You organise the transport, we handle the inspection and the quarantine store

Outcome

What you get out of it

Assembly keeps running
Defective supplied parts are caught before they go into the assembly.
Complaints backed by measurement data
The documented conformity decision is on the table when you talk to your supplier.
Capacity without your own floor space
Quarantine store and 100% sorting run at our site — you need neither space, staff nor expensive measuring machines.

Frequently asked

What customers want to know before the Quality Gate

Does CSL decide on release or blocking?
No. CSL does not make independent production, supplier or assembly release decisions — we deliver the reliable basis for the decision; the decision stays with you.
What does a sample say about the whole lot?
The sample describes the condition of the inspected parts. It does not make a statement about every part in the lot — the scope a sample should cover is defined together in advance.
Who blocks the lot at the supplier?
Parts physically at CSL are deposited in our quarantine store, where they await your decision. If only a sample is sent to CSL, the rest of the lot remains at the supplier: blocking there is managed by you together with your supplier.
Who carries the quality responsibility in the end?
You remain responsible for product and quality. The Quality Gate does not shift responsibility — it makes the decision verifiable.
Do you also inspect outgoing goods?
Yes — the same Quality Gate works as an outgoing goods inspection before delivery: CSL inspects against the drawing before the goods go to your customer and documents the conformity decision per position.
